The ongoing project devoted to Gaetano Donizetti’s correspondence continues with letters and documents from the years 1831–1834. This remarkably prolific period saw the creation of works including L’elisir d’amore, Parisina, Lucrezia Borgia and Maria Stuarda. It was also during these years that Donizetti signed the contracts that would take him to Paris, where Marino Faliero would receive its premiere, and ultimately lead to the creation of Lucia di Lammermoor.These years also saw Donizetti develop a highly distinctive and deeply personal epistolary style.
