Balfolk dance evening Balfolk Placis

Balfolk Placis at Āgenskalns Market invites everyone to experience the joy of Latvian and European folk dance, live music, and community. Inspired by the balfolk movement, this welcoming event brings together locals and visitors to dance, learn, and connect through living cultural traditions.

Enjoy an evening of live folk music and social dancing featuring traditional Latvian, European and sometimes more modern balfolk repertoire. Dance waltzes, mazurkas, polkas, bourrées, circle dances, and more, accompanied by talented musicians. Participation does not require a dance partner or prior experience. The event welcomes beginners, with dance guidance offered throughout the evening.

The events take place every other Friday during the summer.
