We Are Born Good (bc30)

A botched takeaway order sparks an unlikely battle of wills in We Are Born Good, the assured debut of Hong Kong filmmaker Yeung Leung Chuen. Aspiring actress Zoey is already at breaking point, weighed down by debt, disappointment and a city that seems determined to test her patience. When a neighbourhood restaurant refuses to remake her incorrect order at closing time, a petty grievance quickly escalates. As their confrontation spirals into chaos, hostility slowly gives way to an unexpected connection. Inspired by viral footage of trivia disputes erupting into violence, the film asks what drives ordinary people to the brink–and whether kindness can still prevail.
