Vivaldi’s Four Seasons – 13th June, Winchester
Soloist:
Nathaniel Anderson-Frank
The programme showcases some of the most iconic works ever written for strings. Mozart’s effervescent Eine Kleine Nachtmusik opens the concert with its instantly recognisable charm, followed by Bach’s Violin Concerto in A minor — a work of yearning and melancholy, shot through with moments of technical brilliance that let the violinist soar.
The second half is devoted to Vivaldi, beginning with his fiery La Follia, based on one of Europe’s oldest musical themes, reimagined over centuries by countless composers. Vivaldi transforms this simple ground bass into a dazzling sequence of variations, brimming with invention and virtuosity.
The evening culminates in one of the greatest masterpieces of all time — The Four Seasons. From the freshness of spring to the icy bite of winter, Vivaldi’s vivid depictions of nature remain as captivating today as they were 300 years ago.
Join us for a night of unforgettable music performed by world-class musicians.
