In 1984 East Berlin, prior to the fall of the communist government, dedicated Stasi officer Gerd Wiesler is assigned to surveillance duties, specifically to collect information on popular dramatist Georg Dreyman and his actress partner Christa-Maria Sieland. Wiesler becomes unexpectedly sympathetic to the couple, and becomes more submerged in their lives. However, when a government minister takes a liking to Christa-Maria, it’s not long before he finds himself in a dangerous situation. When conflict is bound to erupt, between justice, love and life, which one is the most fragile?
