Eli, a reserved teenage boy from Sibuyan Island in the Philippines, carries a trauma nobody acknowledges after being sexually assaulted by a peer, an incident dismissed by friends and local authorities as nothing more than “rough play.”

When a mysterious plane crash occurs deep within the island’s densely forested mountains during a violent storm, his attempt to give account is once again met with disbelief and doubt, echoing the earlier erasure of his experience. In a landscape shaped by silence and denial, what has long been suppressed rises into a mounting, inescapable rage.

Inspired by a real-life aircraft disappearance in the Philippines and the often overlooked issue of male sexual assault, RAGING is a poetic exploration that intertwines a boy’s trauma with an island’s wounds. Following his debut feature LOVE AND VIDEOTAPES, the director returns to the Berlin International Film Festival and the Hong Kong Lesbian & Gay Film Festival.
