Midsummer Festival in Dzegužkalns
Midsummer’s Day and Night (Līgo and Jāņi) are without a doubt the biggest and most traditional holiday of the Latvian people, celebrated by all generations – big and small, old and young. The festivities are usually celebrated according to pagan customs, that have been around for a long time, with a dash of mysticism and magic thrown in for good measure.
The traditional Midsummer celebration in Riga will be held in Dzegužkalns, where bonfires will be lit, Latvian cuisine will be served, and songs will be performed. The event will be full of the best traditional music and dance groups, everyone will be able to learn about the traditions of Midsummer night and rejoice until dawn.
