In this captivating debut feature by Donncha Gilmore, two students from the same school but from completely different social circles find themselves crossing paths at a Halloween party. Charlie, with an aura of an artist, and Jace, the reserved and taciturn rugby player, are drawn into conversation by a shared interest in an old film camera. What begins as a chance encounter evolves into an intoxicating evening as they wander through the streets of Dublin, far removed from the party’s revelry.
Their spontaneous conversations gradually unravel deep-seated secrets and unspoken nightmares, revealing vulnerabilities that they only share in each other’s presence. The film captures the understated beauty of Dublin’s romantic backdrop, evoking echoes of Sally Rooney’s NORMAL PEOPLE as it delves into themes of identity, connection, and the complexities of self-revelation.
