Fatboy Slim, born Norman Quentin Cook, rose to global prominence in the second half of the 1990s, as big beat became an increasingly prominent force in electronic music – an energetic blend of breakbeat, house, hip-hop, funk and rock. His 1996 debut album “Better Living Through Chemistry” was followed by “You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby”, which established him as one of the most sought-after producers and DJs of his generation. Tracks such as “The Rockafeller Skank” and “Praise You” became classics of 1990s dance music, while the Spike Jonze-directed video for “Praise You”, featuring a seemingly spontaneous dance troupe performing outside a cinema, became one of the era’s most recognisable music videos.
