Falling away from prime

Pulse Visual Arts is proud to present a solo exhibition of new work by realist painter W. Max Thomason, on view Aug 7- Sept 27, 2026, at 3256 Walnut Street in RiNo. The show invites reflection on how we each understand time, memory, and personal narrative, exploring the spaces between defining moments of our lives, be they triumph, loss, growth, or decline. This is Thomason’s first solo show in two years, and he looks forward to presenting a new body of work representing a theme he has been considering for some time. The works are intentionally evocative, emotionally charged and open-ended, encouraging viewers to create their own stories through the interplay of image and title. Each piece offers a glimpse into a moment that could be interpreted as occurring just before a peak experience, at the height of it, or in its immediate aftermath. Rather than prescribing a narrative, the exhibition asks viewers to consider where they believe each image exists within that arc. Thomason believes this overall moment in time in one for introspection, stating, “I encourage people to slow down, look at the paintings and reflect. Be aware, and live in the present, because it might be a prime moment.”
