Director’s notes “I have always loved the classics; I study them and stage them. Aeschylus’s Eumenides , the third and final part of the Oresteia, was a real revelation for me: the tale of the transition from an archaic form of justice, embodied by the Furies, to a form of justice based on the masculine principle, championed by Athena and founded on the primacy of the father and the concept of military order. Peace within the borders of the state, war beyond them. Men at war, to conquer and bring home new wealth; women at home, to care for others…
