On the Western Front of World War I, young soldier Pierre is eager to prove himself, but repeatedly retrieving the bodies of fallen comrades slowly shatters his courage. When an army show is organized to boost morale, Pierre is assigned to help build the set. On stage, Francis performs as a woman, his captivating charm stirring the young soldier’s heart. While war rages outside, an untimely romance quietly takes root between them. Following Close, director Lukas Dhont captures forbidden love blooming against the brutality of war, led by two emerging actors who shared the Best Actor award at Cannes.
