Concert “Songs of our dearly beloved Raimonds Pauls!”
The University of Latvia Mixed Choir “Dziesmuvara”, together with the bands “Flashback” and “Dziesmuvasara”, will perform arrangements of their favourite songs by the Latvian Maestro Raimonds Pauls. This concert is a dream that has been cherished by the choir members for years. For decades, Raimonds Pauls’s music has helped shape the singers of choir “Dziesmuvara” as musicians and as individuals. Songs featuring lyrics by Latvian poets Jānis Peters, Inese Zandere, Leons Briedis and others have entertained and inspired the singers throughout every stage of life — from their childhood to adulthood.
The concert will be presented in two parts. In the first part, the choir will perform together with the band “Flashback”, presenting songs by Raimonds Pauls selected by the choir members from the composer’s lesser-known repertoire. The second part will feature the classics – Raimonds Pauls’s beloved and widely known popular songs, performed by the choir singers together with the band “Dziesmuvasara”. During the second part of the concert, both choir members and audience members will be invited to sing and dance along together!
As the celebratory year marking Raimonds Pauls’s anniversary draws to a close, the “Dziesmuvara” choir warmly invites you to discover R. Pauls’s music through their own artistic vision, with the programme also featuring original arrangements of his songs created by members of “Dziesmuvara” themselves.
