22 Lengths (KINO)
Director: Mia Maariel Meyer
Cast: Luna Wedler, Jannis Niewöhner, Laura Tonke
Language: German
Tilda’s days leave no room to breathe: studying, working the supermarket checkout, and raising her little sister Ida, because their mother is lost to alcohol. Her only escape is swimming exactly 22 lengths at the local pool. When a PhD offer in Berlin and the unexpected arrival of Viktor hint at a life beyond duty, she dares to imagine a different future. But home has other plans. Adapted from Caroline Wahl’s bestselling novel, 22 Bahnen is a tender portrait of sacrifice and sisterhood. Winner of the Gilde-Filmpreis for Best Film and the Frankfurt Book Fair Prize for Best Adaptation.
