Agnes, a tomboy from a posh two-parent home, is a sullen outcast. Elin, a Bardot-like beauty being raised by a single mom, is vivacious and popular. Neither girl is interested in dating boys. And both really fucking hate life in their small Swedish town of Åmål.

Lukas Moodysson’s debut feature ‘Show Me Love’ was a cultural event in Europe, where it premiered at Cannes, won the Teddy Award at Berlin, and even inspired the creation of the notorious Russian duo t.A.T.u. It screens as the first film of this year’s HKU Film Club.

The HKU Film Club brings together Cinematheque audiences and University of Hong Kong Masters-degree students in Literary and Cultural Studies. Film Club screenings are followed by public discussions in the 1/F foyer facilitated by filmmaker Kate Reilly @lilyblart. Reilly’s film ‘Memories to Choke On, Drinks to Wash Them Down’ won Best Screenplay from the Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards.

來自富裕家庭的Agnes是個性格男孩子氣、鬱鬱寡歡的邊緣人。Elin則由單親媽媽撫養長大，有著迷人美貌，性格活潑且極受歡迎。兩個女孩都對和男生約會毫無興趣，並且極度厭惡在瑞典小鎮奧馬爾的生活。

Lukas Moodysson長片首作《同窗的愛》在歐洲文化界曾轟動一時，它在康城影展首映，榮獲柏林影展泰迪熊獎，甚至啟發了聲名大噪的俄羅斯二人組 t.A.T.u. 的誕生。本片為今年 HKU Film Club的開幕電影。

HKU Film Club聯合bc觀眾和香港大學文學與文化研究碩士學生，於放映後深入討論。映後談由電影人Kate Reilly @lilyblart 主持，於一樓大堂進行，歡迎各位觀眾參與。Kate Reilly的編導作品《夜香・鴛鴦・深水埗》曾獲香港電影評論學會大獎最佳編劇。
