Let’s unicorn

Galerie Russi Klenner is delighted to present Let’s unicorn, Oska Gutheil’s fifth solo exhibition with the gallery, opening on Friday, October 30, 2026. Faithful to his usual interest in societal topics, in his new body of work the artist invites us to enter a more positive environment, escaping the conflicts and absurdities of our polarized world to find shelter in a parallel universe of unicorns. Hybrid creatures have always populated Gutheil’s visual worlds, but the unicorns in this series deliberately carry deeply positive connotations. They offer a moment of refuge from reality, bringing hope and vibrant color to dark and overwhelming times. Blending his signature rough brushwork, bold patterns, and tongue-in-cheek humor, Gutheil creates a playful figurative dreamscape. Gutheil’s distinctive style and choice of subject appear here as a new inflection of his interest in contemporary themes such as the deconstruction of social norms, particularly around gender, alongside other personal concerns like desire, loneliness and failure. In this new group of paintings, he approaches these themes from an optimistic perspective, leaving us with an uplifting feeling and a smile. Let’s unicorn is not only an exhibition title but a call to spread empathy, humanity, and unity.
