In My Father’s Room (HKAFF)

After receiving a key to her late father’s room, art museum employee Satomi traces his final days and discovers a man who found quiet comfort in language, tea ceremony and small beauty, recognising the grace in how he lived. Adapted from her eponymous short story, novelist-turned-director Maha Harada’s debut feature weaves together the wabi-sabi of tea ceremony and the delicateness of poetry, presenting a personal tale of father-daughter relationship that gradually unfolds like the rectangular color block drawn by abstract painter Mark Rothko.
