„Figurative Furniture“ (liet. „Įkūnyti baldai“) – performatyvus projektas, kuriame atlikėja, pasitelkdama intymaus ir daugiasluoksnio kabareto bei pantomimos formas, įkūnija įvairius buities objektus ir tyrinėja, ką reiškia apsigyventi savo kūne.

„Šis kūrinys išaugo iš kelių performansų, kuriuose nuolat įkūnijau stalą – magišką stalą arba judantį parodos atidarymo furšetą. Kūnui atsidūrus jį suobjektinančioje padėtyje, panorau suteikti balsą ir judesį visai objektų-figūrų serijai. Sumanymas kilo iš judančių baldų „abėcėlės“: sujudanti kėdė, uždususi knygų lentyna, atsiverianti knyga, į šaukšto nugarėlę žvelgianti šakutė ir taip toliau. Tai vidinės ir daugialypės sandaros monologai, sukurti iš medžio, varžtų, vinių, gestų, rankų ir istorijų. Kūniškosios atminties klausimą perkeldama objektui siekiu sutrikdyti įprastai į jį nukreiptą žvilgsnį: sužmoginti objektus, kad atsiskleistų jų jausmai, arba interpretuoti objektus, kad kūnas būtų išlaisvintas iš objekto statuso“, – Garance Debert.

Renginys yra nemokamas, tačiau vietų skaičius yra ribotas, todėl yra būtina išankstinė registracija per „Paysera“. Renginio vietoje galimybės įsigyti bilietų nebus. Be bilieto į renginį lankytojai nebus įleidžiami.

Garance Debert – Briuselyje gyvenanti vizualiųjų menų ir choreografijos kūrėja. Jos praktikoje susitinka performansas, pantomima, šokis, videomenas ir kuratorystė. Kūną ji tyrinėja kaip antinostalgiškų archyvų paviršių. Žvelgdama į judesį per skirtingų laikotarpių perspektyvą, menininkė iš naujo interpretuoja pantomimos konvencijas ir tyrinėja, kaip bendri vaizdiniai atsiranda ir išnyksta.

‘Figurative Furniture’ is a performative project that seeks to bring inanimate objects to life through animated bodies. Embodied in a series of domestic dances, the objects, which are both affected by and affect human actions, narrate, in the idea of a one-object-show, the emotions and gestures they convey. A performer embodies various household objects, in the style of an intimate and multifaceted cabaret, exploring the question of the ability to inhabit one’s own body.

“This work evolved from various performances in which I systematically embodied a table – whether as a magic table or a mobile art-opening buffet. In response to this posture that objectified my body, I wanted to give voice and movement to a series of object-figures. The idea came to me from an “ABC” of mobile furniture: a chair that stirs, a bookshelf that runs out of breath, a book that reveals itself, a fork that gazes at the back of a spoon, and so on. Monologues with an internal and multifaceted structure, made of wood, screws, nails, gestures, hands, and stories. By adapting the question of bodily memory to that of the object, I seek to disorient the gaze often directed at it. To humanize objects in order to reveal their affections, or to interpret objects in order to de-objectify the body,” Garance Debert.

The event is free of charge. However, space is limited and advance registration via Paysera is mandatory. Tickets will not be issued at the venue. Visitors without a ticket will not be admitted to the event.

Garance Debert is an artist working in the fields of visual and choreographic arts, based in Brussels. Her practice combines performance, mime, dance, video, and curation. Her work explores the body as a surface for anti-nostalgic archives. Through an anachronistic approach to movement, she subverts the conventions of mime to examine the emergence and disappearance of shared imaginaries.
