For decades, Charlotte-based record dealer and collector Gene Brown has supplied records and samples to some of hip-hop’s most respected producers, including Just Blaze, 9th Wonder, Q-Tip, J. Cole and many others.

For this year’s CrateryCon Talk, we’re teaming up with Gems Podcast for a special live edition of the show, with host Shom Ghosh sitting down with Gene to trace his story, from a lifelong obsession with records to turning his ear into a profession, helping to put the gospel genre on the map and becoming a trusted dealer to some of hip-hop’s biggest names.
