Broersen & Lukacs; Somewhere, Elsewhere
Kunstenaars Margit Lukács en Persijn Broersen vertellen over hun manier van werken aan de hand van vier van hun films. Het duo maakt werk waarin de verbeelding en toe-eigening van landschappen en herinneringen een grote rol spelen.
Het werk van Margit Lukács en Persijn Broersen draait om de relatie tussen cultuur en natuur. Via hun films, installaties en performances ontrafelen ze de mythologieën en oorsprong van echte en fictieve landschappen. Ze scheppen virtuele werelden door live-action, fotografie en experimentele digitale animatie te combineren. Daarbij werken ze samen met academici, muzikanten en choreografen. Media, muziek en technologie spelen een grote rol in hun werk.
Twee van de vertoonde films zijn momenteel te zien in de tentoonstelling ‘Naturocene. Ways to Fall in Love with the Earth’ bij On the Inside (tot en met 14 februari). De tentoonstelling Naturocene is een samenwerking tussen On the Inside en Eye.
Na de vertoning worden de kunstenaars geïnterviewd door Simona Monizza, conservator van de Eye-collectie, en Alessandra Leitempergher, curator van Naturocene.
During the Artist Talk, Broersen and Lukács will guide us through their artistic practice while introducing a selection of four films. Their work reflects the many references shaping the imagination and appropriation of landscape and memory.
In their work Margit Lukács and Persijn Broersen reflect on the intricate relationship between culture and nature, driven by their interest in
media, music, and technology. Working across film, installation, and performance, they unravel the origins and mythologies of real and fictional landscapes. Their process involves constructing virtual worlds
combining live action, photography, and experimental digital animation.
Collaborating with scientists, scholars, musicians, and choreographers.
Two of the works shown are currently on show at the
exhibition “Naturocene. Ways to Fall in Love with the Earth” at On the
Inside (through February 14). The exhibition Naturocene is a
collaboration between On the Inside and Eye.
After the screening Eye collection curator Simona Monizza and curator of Naturocene Alessandra Leitempergher will interview the artists.
