Time is not a steady flow — it is a network of currents that carry us forward and backward, leaving traces, then erasing them, and forcing us to start over again. This is precisely how the festival’s motto, “We live in different times,” takes on concrete meaning: different generations, different tempos, and different senses of time coexist in a single concert.

One of Latvia’s most remarkable pianists, Reinis Zariņš, will perform a solo program featuring new Latvian works and piano pieces from the Nordic countries.

The program centers on two new works commissioned especially for this concert, highlighting different generations in the most visible way.

The Nordic dimension is brought to the program by Madlēna Isakson’s piano piece Écrits sur l’eau (“Writings on Water”) — music about traces that appear for a moment and then immediately disappear.

The program also features music by other Baltic composers, expanding the map of the river of time with different perspectives on today’s experience.
